Committees
As with many organizations, there are committees of volunteers who plan, organize and execute the bulk of the work. The following committees are in place for 2010.
Activities and Events
This committee is in charge of organizing a list of fun and/or educational opportunities for MG/MC's to participate in throughout the year with expectations of building community. They are working closely with the Continuing Education committee and the Member-at-Large to coordinate the program design. Retail Sales
This committee is in charge of organizing the sale of garden related clothing and items with the MG logo at meetings and classes throughout the year. Contact e-mail: retailsales@mgftc.org
Compost Bin Sales
This committee is in charge of organizing all the activities necessary to make sure that we have bins available for sale primarily to residents of Thurston County. Contact e-mail: compostbin@mgftc.org
Plant Sale
This committee is responsible for all the details related to the sale of plants at our annual plant sale which is held on the third Saturday of May. There may be years when a second plant sale is held, and it would occur on the third Saturday of September. Contact e-mail: plantsale@mgftc.org
Policy and Procedure
This committee is primarily made up of Board members and is in charge of keeping the Policy and Procedure Handbook updated to reflect current information. Contact e-mail: policyandprocedure@mgftc.org
Scholarship
This committee is primarily handled by the Treasurer of the Board, and they oversee the financial management of the scholarship fund sent to South Puget Sound Community College. The college takes the applications and does the selection of students awarded the scholarship(s). Contact e-mail: SPSCCscholarship@mgftc.org
The State Representative of the Board is in charge of distributing materials for the Master Gardener Foundation of Washington State yearly scholarships. Applications are accepted by our Thurston County Board, who then makes a recommendation to the State Board for consideration. Contact e-mail: MGFTCscholarship@mgftc.org
