Committees
As with many organizations, there are committees of volunteers who plan, organize and execute the bulk of the work. The following committees are in place for 2008.
Activities and Events
This committee is in charge of organizing a list of fun and/or educational opportunities for MG/MC's to participate in throughout the year with expectations of building community. They are working closely with the Continuing Education committee and the Member-at-Large to coordinate the program design. Finalized programs will be announced via listserve as well as posted on the "Let's Travel and Learn" page on this website.
Clothing/Item Sales
This committee is in charge of organizing the sale of garden related clothing and items with the MG logo at meetings and classes throughout the year.
Compost Bin Sales
This committee is in charge of organizing all the activities necessary to make sure that we have bins available for sale primarily to residents of Thurston County.
Continuing Education
This committee is in charge of MG/MC program related continuing education. It's listed here because they are working closely with the Activities and Events committee and the Member-at-Large to coordinate the class list with activities and speakers. Finalized lists will be announced via listserve as well as posted on the "Let's Travel and Learn" page on this website.
Garden Rhapsodies
This representative works with the Garden Rhapsodies committee to help in the choosing of gardens, and planning of all other details, for the yearly garden tour. She/he reports back to the Board. Other MG/MC volunteers also work on the committee to help define and carry out plans. This year there is a special Program task force in charge of Educational Enhancement in the gardens and at the shuttle site.
Memorialization
This committee has put together recommendations for ways to formalize memorialization of Master Gardeners and Master Composters who pass away.
Plant Sale
This committee is responsible for all the details related to the sale of plants at our annual plant sale which is held on the third Saturday of May. There may be years when a second plant sale is held, and it would occur on the third Saturday of September.
