Let's Travel and Learn!
Educational and fun community building activities and events are being planned for the year. Current opportunities include:
OCTOBER 11, Saturday, 1:30-3:30 pm. THE WINTER PERENNIAL GARDEN. As a precursor to Ed Hume's talk on Winter Color and Interest in your Garden at the October 23 Membership Meeting, join JoAnn Mahaffey as she talks about many aspects of your perennial garden during the winter months.
This two-hour class will be conducted at fellow Master Gardener Joyce Hawkins' garden in Littlerock. We will stroll through Joyce's large garden (which includes 2 koi ponds) as JoAnn talks about what to grow for winter interest; locating plants for best winter precipitation; winter sun vs. summer sun; when to plant and how to plan (design); solving the problem of big blank spaces; along with information about what needs to be "put to bed" and how that is accomplished.
JoAnn has owned her own nursery business for several years and
specializes in perennials. She sells at several locations, including the
Olympia Farmer's Market.
Fee: $7.50 Foundation Members; $12 non-members, including the public. 2 hours CE credit.
Contact: Lois Willman at lois@mgftc.org for more information and reservations.
