The Pacific Northwest has a reputation for being rain soaked but as all gardeners of the region know, once July rolls around the tap runs dry for a few months. This talk will look at Del Brummet’s experience creating a climate-adapted garden from scratch and will also draw from his experience working at the Elisabeth Miller Botanical Garden. The focus will be on native plants combined with some sturdy exotics to help achieve the goal of a low water garden.
Our Speaker:
Del Brummet, Head Gardener Elisabeth Carey Miller Botanical Garden
Del has served as head gardener since October 2019. He grew up in Seattle and graduated from the University of Washington with a B.S. in Biology. Del’s fascination with growing plants has greatly expanded since working at the Miller Garden; when he and his wife bought a house in 2020 he immediately began to create a garden and grow a variety of plants.
The Miller Garden staff focuses on new, rare and unusual plants as well as evaluating plants best suited for the climate of the maritime Pacific Northwest.
